Rich Epp was born December 30, 1949, and was raised on a farm in Thomas County south of Colby, Kansas. Rich graduated from Berean Academy in 1969 and then from Colby Community College in 1972, where he attained an Associates of Arts Degree in Broadcasting.

Rich started his broadcast career at KLOE Radio/TV in 1971 as Sports Director. He covered high school and Colby College sports. In 1976-78, Rich went to Illinois and covered Big Ten Illinois Football and Basketball. In 1979, Epp returned to Northwest Kansas to cover sports play-by-plays and work in sales/advertising. While working for Eagle Broadcasting, an opportunity opened up for him to become part of the station management team at KCOW/KQ-106 in Alliance, Nebraska in August of 1987. In April of 1988, Rich was offered the position of PIO with the Kansas Department of Commerce in Topeka. Then in the fall of 1989, Rich became the Press Secretary for Governor Mike Hayden. He remained in that position through 1990. In 1991, Rich left state government and went back to broadcasting at KTPK-FM as Local Sales Manager. In July of 1993, Rich was offered the Sales Management position at KLBY-TV in Colby, Kansas, where he handled all station sales and some on-air programming.

In 1997, Judy and Rich Epp started J-R marketing and began handling radio and TV advertising for several businesses in Northwest Kansas. J-R Marketing produces Colby High School football, volleyball, and basketball broadcasts, as well as Colby Trojan men's basketball. Overall, Judy and Rich Epp have over 30 years of experience in Radio and TV Broadcasting and Advertisment Sales.
